Heat wave
In many countries a temperature of 32 degrees for 3 consecutive days chosen as the threshold for a heat wave. it's an arbitrary number chosen due to it being 90 on the F scale. 80 is too low, and 100 is too high. Although in some parts of the world, especially in tropical regions, it has to be over 40 C to be considered a heatwave (104 F). So the temperature threshold is all relative.
Some ways to cope with a heat wave are:
1. Decrease physical activity.
This is particularly advisable for joggers and high school or junior high school athletic teams. Exercise activities should occur early in the morning or in the early evening. Stay in shade as much as possible.
2. Wear loose, lightweight and light colored cotton clothing.
3. Drink plenty of water.
4. Eat light meals.
5. Put the alcoholic beverages away until cooler weather.
Alcoholic drinks can increase a person's risk to heat-related illnesses.
